Capacity:capacity logo

Columbus Networks provides broadband transmission capacity solutions and network services throughout its entire on-net service region. In addition, through our off-net sub sea partners we can seamlessly provide connectivity to many other countries, both in the pan-Caribbean region and globally. Capacity solutions are available on a leased and IRU basis.

Service is delivered using standards-based Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy (PDH) and Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) interfaces, for example ITU-T, G.703 electrical E1, DS3 and G.957 optical STM1, STM4, STM16. Columbus Networks also offers 2.5 Gbps. and 10 Gbps lambda solutions to meet specific customer needs.

Undersea Connect™ bandwidth service connects any two cable stations in the Columbus Networks' footprint. Capacity is accessed via site cross-connection inside the terminal stations.

City Connect™ bandwidth service is used together with Undersea Connect™ to extend connectivity into a city-center access point from an undersea cable station. Columbus Networks can arrange for this connectivity into a city-center Point-of-Presence (POP) using a regional backhaul network. In cases where the regional backhaul network is owned by a third party, Columbus Networks provides the extension to the customer in a bundled turnkey solution.

Office Connect™ service is used together with Undersea Connect™ bandwidth and City Connect™ bandwidth to extend connectivity into the customer's own desired office location (via "Local Loop"). Columbus Networks can arrange for connectivity to the customer's own designated location using a local network. If the local network is owned by a third party, then Columbus Networks will provide the extension to the customer in a similar bundled turnkey solution.

Internet Protocol (IP):

Taking advantage of an all-optical undersea transport network, Columbus Networks delivers dedicated broadband IP access through a Carrier Class IP overlay network. Columbus’ IP Transit Service provides international carriers, cable operators, Internet service providers and enterprises with unparalleled access to the global Internet through extensive peering with tier 1 carriers, content providers, and other regional networks.

In the USA, Columbus Networks operates an all-optical multi-10Gbps IP backbone, built with a fully scalable and redundant core routing architecture. Columbus Networks guarantees Customers 100% availability, normal network latency of 50 milliseconds or less and .03% or less packet loss. Columbus Networks has quickly established itself as a premier provider of IP services to the Pan-Caribbean region.

Scalable Customer Bandwidth
IP Transit service is available at speeds from 2Mbps to 10Gbps using Gigabit Ethernet and Fast Ethernet, in addition to standard ITU-T interfaces such as E1, DS3, STM1, STM4 and STM16.

Flexible Billing Solutions
Full-port, tiered, and burstable billing options are offered to meet the business needs and support the growth of our customers:

Full Port: Provides customer maximum IP bandwidth according to port interface i.e. E1 ~1.9Mbps DS3 ~ 43Mbps, STM-1 ~ 150Mbps. GigE ~ 1024Mbps.

Burst Rate: IP bandwidth provided over a given interface e.g. STM-1 with minimum commitment bandwidth 30Mbps. Customer is able to burst beyond such level, for example 60Mbps allowing customer to instantly support added demand for bandwidth.

Tiered Rate: IP bandwidth provided over a given larger bandwidth interface i.e. STM4 – GigE, with fractional amount of capacity activated. Columbus Networks and its customers can quickly enable additional capacity with minimum additional network change. The perfect solution for expanding network demands.

Domain Name Services
Primary and secondary DNS services are available as options based on hardened, secure, and redundant DNS delivery platform.

Multiple forward and reverse lookup zones, capable of hosting large allocations of IP address space.

Quick response and fulfillment of DNS updates, handled by Columbus' Network Operations Center, 24x7x365.

Security Services & Network Management

• Denial of Service (DOS) Attack Mitigation
Columbus Networks supports the use of the “black-hole” community transmitted through BGP. This feature allows customers to mitigate DOS-based traffic before reaching their networks.

• Network Ingress Filtering
Columbus Networks core design is RFC 2827 compliant, helping to protect against spoofed-address attacks that may result in security incidents or Denial of Service attacks.

• Expert Network Management and Customer Support
Columbus’ Network Operations Center serves as a single point of contact for IP Transit customers. Our team of highly trained, bilingual (Spanish and English) engineers, monitor network availability and performance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
