Columbus Communications Trinidad Ltd. is wholly-owned by Columbus. It markets its broadband triple play (cable‚ internet and telephony) under the brand name Flow. Flow is the only company in Trinidad providing true broadband triple play.
Columbus entered the market in June 2005 by acquiring Trinidad and Tobago Trans–cable Company Ltd. (“CCTT”). Once it had secured a new 15 year telecom license in may 2006, Columbus rebranded CCTT Flow and set out on an aggressive network rebuild program, transforming the system from an antiquated one-way, analog system to a state-of-the-art two-way, digital broadband platform. Since 2006, Columbus has invested US$250 million in capital improvements in Trinidad.
The results have been dramatic. A new fully digital video head end was constructed in August 2006‚ providing Flow customers access to more than 300 video and audio channels‚ by far the most comprehensive television service in Trinidad. Today, Flow offers a robust digital TV product that includes video on demand, the largest offering of HD channels, digital video recorders and digital music services. In addition, Flow offers residential broadband internet packages ranging from an entry level service of 5 Mbps up to a blazing 100 Mbps and bundles these services with innovative and economical digital landline telephony service. In partnership with its sister company, Columbus Business Solutions, Trinidad businesses now have access to a broad range of corporate data services including telephony, data storage, disaster recovery, IP services, hosting and business continuity services.
Today, Flow is the leading cable television provider in Trinidad and since commencing network upgrade program, Columbus has grown its customer base to over 250‚000 video, internet and voice subscribers. At the same time, Flow has become a major employer in the country, growing its team of telecom professionals from approximately 200 when it purchased CCTT to over 625 today.
